We built a shallow water tank in the otherwise stripped down studio and blacked out any additional reflections.

Add in some haze and and a purpose-built water reflector to achieve interesting caustics and the stage was set.

The final transition from the dark void into the light was shot on blue screen and 3D artist Sakke Soini tracked and composited a fantastical landscape to act as the final reveal.
